Tap- The world of tap is full of magical rhythm and sounds. Tap dancing focuses more on the feet and what they can do instead of using the whole body to tell the story. Tap compliments ballet nicely for students because tap works on the fine motor skills of the feet. Tap is also a progressive style of dance where you continue to build on what you have learned. Listening to the sounds one makes with their feet as well as the rhythms in the music encourages the growth of rhythm, patterns, and imagination, as the student takes off on their own.
Clothing and Shoe Requirement: ALL HAIR MUST BE PULLED AWAY FROM THE FACE
Tap: Students should wear fitted clothing such as leotard and shorts, or tank or t-shirt and shorts or capris (any colors). Long pants should be worn for warm up only and be able to be removed. For all students, we use a pull on black tap shoe. These shoes will be available for ordering at Open House. If your shoes still fit, feel free to use them and order the new style when they get too small. Older students can continue with the black “jazz taps” if they would like,– they look like jazz shoes with taps on them.
